Rare Da Vinci Notebook in Louisville!

Today I got to see the Da Vinci book on display at the Speed Museum. They had a computer with a very strange elongated vertical lcd monitor that allowed you to zoom into the sketches and read what he wrote in his notes translated in English.

It was very interesting to see how is mind worked and how fascinated he was with geometry and how the world operates in general. It had some very interesting measurement tools on how you can easily measure a building by measuring yourself from the ear to the ground, then laying this vertical measurement horizontally on the ground and counting the steps up to the building which will give you the exact measurement of the building or object. I find this very creative and fascinating.

The whole concept of using nature to actually measure and predict the growth of elements intrigues me greatly and is great for when drawing shapes and figures by allowing you to predict how long each arm or branch should be based on the natural formulas created by nature.

You can read further on the subject at this link, the second link announced the arrival of his journal to Louisville.
